What riverboat cruise is complete without the right music to set the atmosphere? Many of our cruises feature live music and entertainment paired to provide the perfect 1000 Islands experience.
The River Cats
The River Cats show contains a wide variety of musical influences. You’ll hear a great standard like ‘On The Sunny Side Of The Street’ with just clarinet, vocals, and guitar, and the next thing you know, you’re off to Jamaica, with ‘Jamaica Farewell’, or a Bob Marley song. Then you’re back on the river with the rockin’ ‘Proud Mary’, and ‘Joy To The World’. Feel like a road trip? Off they go taking you down ‘Route 66’, and you’re ‘King Of The Road’. Spencer’s a great lover, and player of the music of New Orleans. Songs such as ‘Basin Street Blues’, and ‘Muscat Ramble’, are mixed in with ‘Sweet Georgia Brown’, and ‘When The Saints’. Hey it’s summertime with ‘Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer’,‘Groovin’, and ‘The Summertime Blues’. A trip to the Carribbean with a Calypso medley, and ‘Guantanamera’. And back home with the Beatles ‘Ob La Di’, and Satchmo’s ‘What A Wonderful World’.
All songs are performed to the accompaniment of Michael K. Myer’s guitar and bass and Spencer Evans’s keyboard and clarinet.
Roger is a regular performer on the Island Queen and the occasional weekday lunch on the Island Star. Roger’s show is a mixture of music and comedy.
Roger’s been playing on various ships in the 1000 Islands for over 20 years. His music ranges from Rock to Celtic to Country. He plays the guitar, banjo and a variety of percussion instruments.
Billy Bridger is our principal entertainer on the Island Star and has been with the company since 1992. Starting the cruise with a humorous commentary, he makes it fun to learn a bit about the history and geography of the 1000 Islands.
During the dinner hour his live music show encompasses an incredible range of music with over 1000 songs in his repertoire. His comedic impressions of various singers in a Vegas-style show sets the tone for an exciting night out on the water. In the final phases of the cruise, Billy becomes an interactive DJ hosting an old-school dance party, finishing off the cruise with a bang.
Doug has come to personify the very special atmosphere that has become the signature of our dining cruises. Doug uses a guitar to play such music as soft rock and favorites from the 60’s and 70’s. He has been with the company since 1991.
